Gilded Dawn Katana - Ghost of Yotei Atsu’s Sword
Description
The Gilded Dawn Katana belongs to the Soul of Mount Yotei collection. It has a 72 cm blade made from 1065 high-carbon steel, with muffle furnace heat treatment and controlled tempering. The blade follows a traditional Shinogi-Zukuri (鎬造) profile, and the full tang Nakago (一体留め) extends through the handle. Overall length is 102 cm.
This model replaces the usual cord-wrapped handle with a smooth solid wood Tsuka. Both the handle and matching wooden Saya have a glossy white piano lacquer finish with subtle marble-like shading. Hand-applied gold splashes and fine branching lines run across the white surface, drawing on the look of Kintsugi without making the design feel overly ornate.
The segmented Tsuba is made from gold-toned zinc alloy and has a shape similar to joined bamboo sections. A pure copper Habaki and brass Seppa complete the fittings. Two bamboo Mekugi pins secure the handle to the tang. The sword weighs 1040 grams without the Saya and 1320 grams with it.
