Genji Katana – Folded Steel, Kobuse Forged, Clay Tempered
The Genji Katana is forged through the kobuse (甲伏) method — a hard steel core encased in a softer jacket, preserving both edge retention and flexibility. The body is clay tempered, differentially hardened to bring out a real gunome hamon — flowing waves across the blade, shaped by fire.
This katana apart is its folded steel.
Folded again and again, each pass refines the grain, evens the carbon, and leaves behind a unique surface pattern. Light doesn’t just reflect off this blade — it moves across it.
